CNS Therapeutics today announced that the FDA has officially classified Gablofen as an AP-rated therapeutic equivalent (TE) generic drug, with Lioresal as the reference listed drug (RLD). This means that Gablofen, for use in the management of severe spasticity, can be substituted for Lioresal with the full expectation that Gablofen will produce the same clinical effect and safety profile as Lioresal, a drug manufactured by Novartis and marketed exclusively by Medtronic.
